Two popular uploadsites have measures taken after the action of the FBI against MegaUpload. Uploaded.to block visitors from the United States and FileSonic allows the sharing of files anymore.

It is possible that the sites are afraid of legal problems. Last week was MegaUpload in charge of the FBI’s offline and were employees of the site were arrested on suspicion of copyright infringement; one of them is a Dutchman. Last weekend were in the case two people were arrested, reports Reuters.

Uploaded.to have no statement issued about the matter and also FileSonic has covered up, but the measures were noted by visitors. So is Uploaded.to no longer from the United States to visit: the site will give you only to ‘currently not available in your country”, without further explanation. FileSonic has, in turn, are filesharingfunctionaliteiten disabled: a warning on the frontpage, indicates that it is only possible to download files by a user himself uploaded.

Both services rely on the U.s. digital millennium copyright act, content providers against liability for content their users upload, as long as they are content that infringes copyright upon request to remove. MegaUpload relied always on that law, but according to the U.s. department of justice concluded that the site was not. Possible doubt Uploaded.to and Filesonic now whether they have sufficient measures against copyright infringement to take in order to avoid prosecution.

FileSonic and Uploaded.to be just like MegaUpload based in Hong Kong. In any case, a part of the servers Uploaded.to is hosted by LeaseWeb, which is also a part of the hosting of MegaUpload well.
